Determined to win, Cayman’s Teagan Nash didn’t ease up during the girls 15-17 200-metre butterfly finals Saturday night, and her efforts paid off.
Nash, 15, who trains under Darren Mew of Seven Mile Swimmers, was seeded at 2:32.47 going into the 200m fly finals.
She was the youngest in the race but that didn’t stop her from putting down a personal best time of 2:30.46 to win over heavy favourite Keianna Moss of the Bahamas who placed second. Cayman’s Allyson Belfonte took third.
Nash wasn’t done collecting gold there. She proceeded to anchor the 800m freestyle relay for teammates Harper Barrowman, Lila Higgo and Sofia Bonati. They won gold in 8:58.08.
