Caymanian superstar Jordan Crooks will likely compete at the World Championships in Fukuoka this July, but his younger sister may share the spotlight with him.
Jillian Crooks turned in a blistering 56.54 during the 100 metre freestyle heats at the Carifta Swimming Championships in Willemstad, Curacao.
It marked her best swim in that event ever and her time was only .39 off the World Championships’ B cut time. Crooks’ swim was also deemed a new Carifta record, besting the old record of 56.77, set 15 years ago.
The 16 year old Olympian has now set four Carifta records in the last three days. On Friday, Crooks, hit the pool for the 50m butterfly finals and stopped the clock at 27.82 – a new Carifta record.
Her gold winning time also made her the only Caymanian woman in history to go sub-28 in the 50-fly.
Crooks returns to the finals of the 100m tonight.
