It wasn’t only the beautiful costumes that sparkled at the Pisina Benny Leito today – the artistic swimmers gave it their all and made the Cayman Islands, their coaches and families so proud, walking away with a large number of medals and trophies in this order:
1. U12 team took GOLD for their team routine. CARIFTA team champions!
2. 13-15 age group took SILVER for their team routine.
3. Junior team took GOLD for their team routine. CARIFTA team champions!
This brought the medal haul to a grand total of 10 which is our best performance yet at CARIFTA!
In addition we were awarded trophies for our performance at each division level (to take into account overall performance at figures, small routines and team routines) as follows:
1. U12 team took first place – GOLD!
2. 13-15 age group took second place – SILVER!
3. Junior team took third place – BRONZE!
And if that wasn’t enough, the Cayman Islands Artistic Swimming Team as a whole walked away with the CARIFTA Championship High Points Award!
It was a privilege to have the Honorable Bernie Bush in attendance to cheer the team and to award medals and trophies at the end. This has been a tournament to remember and continues to demonstrate the continued growth and depth of artistic swimming talent in the Cayman Islands! Go Cayman
