Cayman’s top hurdler Rasheem Brown came oh-so close to capturing the gold at the 2023 SEC Indoor Championships over the weekend, at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Brown, who now attends Tennessee as a senior after transferring from North Carolina A&T, ran a season-best of 7.71 over the 60-metre hurdles in the second heat, moving him three positions to No. 7 on UT’s all-time list.
He went on to the finals on Saturday, where he clocked 7.72 to claim silver – his first conference medal as an SEC athlete.
Brown was just .01 off winning gold over South Carolina’s Filip Demsar, who clocked 7.71 seconds for the win.
Brown has now hit the podium in the Big South Conference and Southeastern Conference, having won gold during the 2022 Big South Indoor Track & Field Championships.
