Cayman’s footballer Mason Duval wins CAA Championship

National football player Mason Duval contributed to his school, Elon University, earning their first Colonial Athletic Association regular season title after a 0-0 draw against the Seahawks on Saturday (29 October) at UNCW Soccer Stadium.

“Unbelievably proud of the group,” Marc Reeves, Elon head coach stated on the school’s website.

“I think (winning the regular season title) is a great accomplishment in a big league like this. So, to be regular season champions is a great thing to say,” Reeves added.

Duval, who was recently named offensive player of the week by his school, had several moments during the game on Saturday.

His performance during the season earned a runner-up finish for top scorer – making him the only Caymanian to do so in the history of the CAA.

Academy Sports Club, who Duval previously played for in Cayman, gave their former striker a shoutout, stating; “We are very proud of you Mason. Keep being a [role] model to the young players of our club.”
