Parkers Raceway issue statement on motorcycle fatality

Parkers Raceway have issued a statement after father-of-four Kashwayne McKenzie, was killed on Sunday afternoon after his bike crashed at their racing grounds in Breakers, Bodden Town.

“[Sunday] was a sad day for the racing community,” the racing organisers wrote on their social media pages. “We want to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Kashwayne McKenzie.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to you during this difficult time. Mr. McKenzie was a loved member of the racing community and he will be sorely missed.”

The 29-year-old racer, of Bodden Town was described by one of his high schoolmates as “a good soul” in Cayman Compass article, written by reporter Reshma Ragoonath.

“He has been racing for… over 10 years now,” Joel Brown said of his late friend. “He raced cars and bikes… it was his favourite sport… Man, [he was] such a good soul… He died doing something he loved.”

Investigations into McKenzie’s death are continuing, according to the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service.
