Tokyo 2020 Olympian and Cayman’s current top female sprinter Shalysa Wray is heading to Eugene, Oregon to compete in the NCAA Outdoor Championships 400-metre dash.
The 23-year-old clocked in a time of 52.35 seconds during the NCAA West Preliminary round last month in Fayetteville, Arkansas. It was enough for the junior at Kansas State University to qualify for the Eugene championships.
“All things are possible with God, you just have to believe,” Wray stated on her Instagram page. “First regionals was a success. See y’all at nationals.”
Her performance came weeks after she recorded a new personal best of 52.17 at the Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held 13-15 May in Lubbock, Texas.
The NCAA Outdoor Championships are expected to run from the 8th to the 11th of June.
