The Cayman Islands’ first match in the 2022 CONCACAF Nation League ended in a 1-1 draw against the British Virgin Islands, thanks to a late goal by Cayman’s Syrus Conolly.
The 18-year-old striker scored in the 80th minute to bring his team even during their Friday (June 3) afternoon Group D fixture at BVI’s home stadium, A.O. Shirley Recreation Ground.
BVI’s captain, Troy Caesar, scored the first goal in the 62nd minute.
Conolly, who plays with Academy Sports Club in the Cayman Islands Football Association Men’s Premier League, answered back after teammate Elijah Seymour made a key pass inside the box, ultimately leading to the assist.
Cayman will play BVI again, this time on home-soil on Monday evening at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex.
