Cayman set for opening CONCACAF W Championship match at home

For the first time in over two years the Cayman Islands Football Association will welcome an international football team to its shores for a highly anticipated match with high stakes.

The Cayman senior women’s national team will attempt to capture their first win in the CONCACAF W Championship, while defending home territory against the Dominican Republic this Saturday (February 19) at the Truman Bodden Sports Complex.

The match against Dominican Republic will be the first task for the Caymanians in Group C, which also include Jamaica, Bermuda, and Grenada.

The winner of that group will advance to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

With the new COVID-19 regulations in place as of Friday (February 18), one thousand spectators will be allowed within the stadium, with mask mandates also lifted.

The match will start at 3pm. Nonrefundable tickets are on sale online for $10 each through EventPro.
