Caymanian sprinter Davontè Howell is currently ranked number one in Florida after running 21.94 seconds in the 200 metres at the East Coast Invitational earlier this month.
His time positioned him ahead of every high school 200m sprinter in the state of Florida, and qualified him for the Indoor High School Championship next month.
Howell, 17, who attends IMG Academy also qualified for the 2022 CARIFTA Games during his school’s outdoor classic meet where he ran 21.82 seconds, a personal best time.
He had previously qualified for the 2020 and 2021 CARIFTA competition, but was unable to run following a stream of postponements and cancelations.
