Caymanian golfer Aaron Jarvis made history for his country Sunday (January 23) morning after a monumental win at the Latin America Amateur Golf Championship in Dominican Republic.
Jarvis, 19, made birdie on the final hole for a 3-under 69 and a one-shot at the golf course at Casa de Campo to win the prestigious tournament and become the first Caymanian to ever qualify for the US Masters.
“The truth is that I cannot put into words what this means to me, it is incredible. In the next few hours I am going to take real dimension of what I have just achieved. The opportunity to play the Masters and The Open is a dream for any golfer and I can’t wait for it to come true”,
The victory means Jarvis, a freshman at the University of Las Vegas earns a spot in the Masters and the Open Championship at St. Andrews. He also is exempt into the final stage of U.S. Open qualifying.
