Academy takes early lead in CIFA men’s league

The Cayman Islands Football Association kicked-off its 2021-22 Men’s Premier League over the weekend with Academy Sports Club claiming top position on the leaderboards. 

Academy men’s team which finished fourth in the 2020-21 league, defeated Elite SC 2-0 Sunday (January 16) afternoon at their home field in Windsor Park, George Town.  

Fifteen minutes into the match, Academy’s Nuno Mirihno put his team up 1-0. In the second half, longtime Academy player Romario Dixon registered the final goal in the 68th minute.  

With Sunset FC defeating East End UFC 1-0 and three matches being forfeited, Academy now leads on goal differential heading into week two of the CIFA men’s league, where they will face Alliance SC.
