Cayman’s Olympian Shalysa Wray ran a new best time in the 400 metres, Thursday (December 2) evening at the 2021 Junior Pan American Games in Cali, Colombia.
Wray, 22, clocked in at 53.47 seconds, surpassing her Olympic performance in Tokyo, where she ran 53.63.
The Kansas State University standout placed 5th overall behind Dominica Republic’s Fiordaliza Cofil, who took gold in 52.10 seconds.
In a Cayman Compass article, Wray was quoted saying that she has “been training really hard” and that her performance at the PanAm games was just the beginning of her season.
