Caymanian footballer, Joshewa Frederick has sealed a deal with OTP United Football Club, a third division squad in Finland.
Frederick, 24, was initially set to make his debut in New Zealand with Ngaruawahia United AFC in January, but those plans came to an abrupt end due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The stationary defender would move on, joining FC Wichita in late spring.
Frederick, a NCAA Division I athlete for Longwood University in Virginia has played football for over 16 years; hitting the pitch during his elementary years and playing in the Cayman Islands Football Association Men’s amateur League, where he boast an abundance of silverware through Bodden Town FC.
He also wears the captain ban for the Cayman Islands national team and has had appearances during several CONCACAF and FIFA tournaments, including the recent World Cup qualifiers.
The decorated Caymanian footballer will now play in Europe for the first time in his career with OTP United.
Currently the club sits in second in the Group C of Kokkonen. Frederick is expected to make an appearance in his new uniform in the coming weeks.
