Cayman’s track-and-fielders made their presence known at the 2021 under-18, under-20 and under-23 North America, Central America and Caribbean (NACAC) championships in Costa Rica, claiming five podium places.
Cayman’s medals haul at the National Stadium in San José, with Lacee Barnes taking gold in discus, throwing 47.34 metres. Barnes went on to capture a bronze medal in shot-put, where she threw 13.75m.
U18- Rachell Pascal won gold in javelin after throwing 36.45m. Also making the podium in the javelin event was Marlon Satahoo, who threw a distance of 49.30, earning himself a bronze.
Cayman’s current top hurdler Rasheem Brown ran 14.06 seconds, earning himself a silver medal. Olympic hopeful Shaylsa Wray finished fourth in the finals, clocking 54.42 seconds and Karim Murray who ran the 200m did not advance from his heat.
