Favourable conditions allowed the 32nd Annual CUC Open Water Sea Swim to take place this past Saturday (30 January) along 7 Mile Beach.
Over 90 swimmers entered into the water, including CUC’s CEO Mr. Richard Hew, who finished second in his age group. Two swimmers used the 400m distance as an opportunity to try out open water.
The first overall swimmer to finish was Stingray Swim Club’s Jake Bailey (10:01), followed by Seven Mile Swimmers’ Will Sellars (10:05) and James Allison (10:15).

Stingray’s Raya Embury-Brown took first for the women in 10:24. Behind her in second was Lauren Hew (10:27) and third was Stingray’s Kyra Rabess (10:31).
“We are grateful to CUC for their continued sponsorship of Cayman Swimming,” stated in a press release by said Cayman Islands Amateur Swimming Association (CIASA) President, Michael Lockwood.
“We had great weather and a great turn out for the swim. Our ability to gather and enjoy our beautiful Seven Mile Beach is a blessing not lost on us.”
The next stop for CIASA will be at the National Championships, set to take place from the 18-20 of February.
