The annual DG’s 5K Challenge event has been pushed back to 2021 due to COVID-19 regulations potentially being breached should the event go forward.
The annual 5k event usually registers up to 2000 participants and with the current gathering regulations allowing a maximum 500 people at time, Deputy Governor Hon. Franz Manderson decided to postpone the event until next year April.

“We are saddened to postpone the highly anticipated DG’s 5k Challenge 2020,” said Manderson. “We are excited about next year however, and the planning committee is still working hard to deliver the very best event in 2021.”
The 2020 DG’s 5K theme, “Helping Today – Protecting Tomorrow” will remain when the event returns next year along with it’s initial charities which includes the Cayman Islands Cancer Society (CICS), The Alzheimer’s and Dementia Association of the Cayman Islands (ADACI) and The MS Foundation of the Cayman Islands.
“As we know these charities are always in need of the community’s support, but we have all agreed that the safety of the community must take precedence,” said Manderson. “Together, we really can help today and protect tomorrow.”
Members of the public will be notified in early 2021 regarding registration.
