64 swimmers took to the waters off Governor’s Beach Saturday (21 November) morning for the 40th Annual KPMG Pirates Week Open Water Swim. Half of those swimmers competed in the 5k race, which was one of three (5K, 3K and 1K) events on the day.
Will Sellars emerged as the 5K winner, after passing the finish line in one hour, eleven minutes and thirty-three seconds. Taking second overall and first female was Jasmine Lambert-Wragg, who swam just six seconds behind Sellars.
In the 3K, Rasheed Lawrence took first with a time of 52:22. Maria Westin took silver and the honours of first female swimming a time of 53:30. Meanwhile, Luke Dodson took first in the 1K with a time of 19:18, followed by Chase Watson who clocked in at 19:47.

“This is the first year we have included the 3K and 1K options and the turnout confirmed that it was a good idea.” stated CIASA director Duke Sullivan in press release.
“Thirty-two swimmers competed the 5K, eighteen the 3K and fourteen the 1K. We had swimmers of varying ages and experience and along with our sponsor KPMG we were delighted to see so many swimmers turn out to race and have fun.”
