The Cayman Islands Football Association (CIFA) Division One League, previously known as the Fosters First Division reemerged after being cancelled 4 years ago. Teams like Cayman Athletic, Prospect United and Cayman Brac returned for league play after missing last season.
While North Side and Alliance were both relegated following an unsatisfactory performance in the premier league. Elite, Bodden Town, Scholars, Roma and Sunset all made B teams, with many players coming in from their youth squads.
Prospect United knocked off Sunset B 2-1 Friday (25 September) night at the Haig Bodden Field in Bodden Town. Prospect’s Neville Henry opened scoring for his team five minutes into the game. Three minutes into the second half Sunset’s Josh Small brought the game level but Prospect’s Doel Lyons found the back of the net just before the final whistle blew, closing the game 2-1.

The second match featured Roma B picking up three points at the Annex against Cayman Brac in a game that also ended 2-1. Cayman Brac’s Curtis Hunt scored 22 minutes into the game to put his team in the lead but Roma answered back 4 minutes later, with a goal from Peter Rose followed by teammate Andre Allen who scored the final goal of the game on the 38th minute mark.
Bodden Town B earned themselves a 2-0 clean sheet victory over Alliance at the Ed Bush stadium. Both goals came in the first half from Bodden Town’s veteran Charlo McLean in the 17th minute and Tyrese Berry in the 34th.
The game that featured Scholars B taking on the returning wildcard Cayman Athletics (CA) ended 4-2 in favour of Scholars B at the Annex Sunday (27 September) night. Scholars got off to a good start with Glen Chollette finding the back of the net in the 12th minute and Yakeni Mullings in the 14th.
After a talk from CA’s Coach Ernie ‘Gillie’ Seymour during half time, the boys came out with a new approach, starting with a goal from CA’s Elder Ebanks in the 59th minute then another by teammate Tarran Ebanks Jr in the 63rd; bringing the game level at 2-2. However, CA’s David Brooks put the ball in his own net to give Scholars the lead again in the 72nd minute, just before Chollette sunk goal his second goal in the 81st.
In addition North Side was schedule to play against Elite B but according to CIFA, North Side voluntarily forfeited the game, ultimately giving Elite B the victory.
