The Cayman Islands Softball Association (CISA) revived its competition this past Sunday (13 September), with Cuba and Caribenos winning their respective matches in the newly formed Rex Whittaker Memorial Mini League. The league will host eight teams total; five male teams and three female teams.
“So for the next 2 months, we will be having a mini league in honor of Rex Whittaker who passed a couple months ago,” said CISA President Ivy Robinson Taylor. “He was an integral part of our association for years, from the late 80s until maybe a year or two ago.”

In the first game, Cuba defeated 2019 league champions Colombia 21-4. The game began with Cuba scoring 7 runs in the first inning and continued to dominate throughout the second, third and fourth innings. In fact, Cuba’s Luis Clarke gave his team some bonus points after connecting a Home Run.
The second game featured Caribenos besting Jacques Scott 15-4. After five innings Caribenos had a score of 15 runs to 2.
Games will resume this Sunday from 12pm to 4pm at the West Bay Softball Field, next to the Jimmy Powell Oval on Dill Lane.
